I've been playing Defense Grid: The Awakening all day. I got it from the Direct2Drive sale I mentioned a few days ago. It turns out, Defense Grid uses Steam so I can grab those Steam Achievements! Had a pretty long update before I could actually play the game though.
Anyway, what is Defense Grid? It's a tower defense game with really good graphics. What's a tower defense game? For those who don't know, it's a game where you put defensive towers that shoot while you keep your enemies from reaching the exit point of the map.
Defense Grid usually uses a linear map where the monsters walk a predefined path and your tower placement is limited. In some maps though, there are some points where you can place towers to form a tower maze. It's nothing like Desktop Tower Defense where you can create a whole complex maze.
What are the problems with this game? Nothing! The only thing bad about this game is that it's a tower defense game that you pay for. However, the price is well worth it considering the amount of maps and graphic quality you get with this game compared to the flash tower defense games. Feel free to try the demo (I did play the demo several months ago).
