Got Dawn of War 2 and started playing the campaign yesterday. It's annoying I can't grab my save game from the demo as I recalled I did better back then. Now, my squad seems to get knocked out and my final rating isn't that good. Anyway, I've taken out both Gutrencha and Skykilla in the campaign and I played against a few easy skirmish. I can't believe that the easy computer is so weak. I mean it took me around a minute to look around the interface and start capturing the power and resource nodes. By 5 minutes, I've taken like 80% of the map and the space marine enemy were no match to my Evil Sun Orks. Dakka Dakka.
I've noticed my squad gets suppressed quickly and this type of suppression feels like the Dawn of War 1 type. Once you get suppressed, it means run away as your troop doesn't shoot and take more damage. I've gotten quite a bit used to CoH's suppression where your troop doesn't attack but takes reduced damage as they seem to duck for cover.
For the graphics, I like the graphics better than Dawn of War 1 or Company of Heroes though I seem to like zooming in a bit more. I sort of remember in Dawn of War 1, units were slightly bigger at the same resolution I'm using now. I like all the flashes and the explosions but too much can get annoying.
I like the interface better as the hotkey of a specific ability is now written on screen. That really helps quite a bit for new players though you still have to know what the ability does though. I wish that the icons were larger and the character portrait a bit smaller though.
Haven't tried any real multiplayer. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some games going later on.
